Families of older children - click here

The club is funded by lifetime membership fees which are only £20 and can be paid online

For this, members receive details of trips and events via the quarterly newsletter and the private members Yahoo Group. These are usually much cheaper than would normally be available to a family travelling alone.

Friendship

Children make friends and enjoy playing together which can relieve the pressure on single parents. Many parents also welcome the company of other adults, which as a single parent can be quite rare! There is the opportunity to share experiences and help each other resolve the kind of problems that seem to crop up at one time or another for all single parents.

Single Dads

The Club recognises that, in many ways, single mums have more opportunities for networking than single dads do. They can sometimes feel left out in the cold, choosing whether to take their children to the cinema or a burger bar on contact days and weekends.

The SPTC offers a place for socialising for single dads as well as single mums and we have plenty of both within our membership. So don’t be shy dads, come and join the others.

Diversity

Our club reflects the single parent picture generally around the UK – most of our members are single mums, but about 20% of our members are single dads. Most of our members are divorced or separated, but many have been widowed or have always been a single parent.

We span all ages from twenties to late fifties, all ethnic backgrounds and all social groups. We do not discriminate against anyone and all we ask is that our members and their children are polite, considerate and respectful of other members. We ask members not to be judgemental of other members and this helps create a tolerant and enjoyable atmosphere at our events.
